Recently youtube is testing smart download feature on Android for users to save their internet data.
What are Youtube Smart Download
The latest Youtube new feature is Smart Downloads. In this feature, youtube will automatically download 20 videos every week based on what you like to watch. In this feature it will not use your internet data, these videos will download over wi-fi network.
You can check your downloaded video in the Download section. Youtube is testing this feature to limited users those who live in Europe and may be available for more countries you can check this by clicking on your account then click on Settings and there you can see Try new features simply click on it. This feature is only available for Youtube Premium users only and it works on the latest Android version.
This feature will be really useful for those who have limited data plan or living in the area where is poor coverage.
Youtube Music premium already has the Smart Download feature. In youtube music songs will automatically download based on what type of music you like to listen.
Note: If users have less storage on their phone, Youtube will send them notification to follow instructions to use Smart Downloads feature.

To use this feature you have to be a premium user and if you are not premium user you can buy premium subscription. Youtube Premium subscription plan will cost $11.99/month and in India it price start at Rs:129/month. Premium users can go to Library tab and then go to Downloads there you can see to turn on Smart Downloads simply click on it. It will automatically start downloading over the wifi network.

Youtube new features for iPhone
Youtube is working on picture-in-picture (PIP) for iPhone users. In this feature you can watch youtube video in mini player while using other apps.
To use this feature if you watching youtube video simply swipe up while watching or press the home button while watching the video to close the app to watch in the miniplayer. This feature will be available for iphone users until 31 January.
Note: If you are using this feature for the first time on iPhone, it may not work properly for the first hour, you should check again after the first hour . If picture-in-picture feature doesn’t work properly after the first hour try uninstalling and again reinstall the Youtube app to work this feature properly.
